The One Way Program
A child coming to Christ is such an awesome event. My Child’s Heart Ministry wants to help parents, churches and schools be more proactive in bringing children between the ages of 7-12 to Christ by helping them understand why they need to be saved and what it means to be saved. Why these ages, you may be asking yourself? Research reveals that people who become Christians before their teen years are more likely than those who are converted when older to remain “absolutely committed” to Christianity. This program does not force them to be saved but plants a seed so God can do the rest. John 14:26 tells us “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, ‘He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.” The children might not understand nor remember everything that is taught them but we know that when they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit will bring to memory the seeds that have been planted in the past by parents, teachers, and churches.
Our program recognizes that churches and schools are very instrumental in growing children spiritually but it is the parent’s responsibility. It is the parent whom the child will follow after he or she makes this awesome decision to follow Christ.
Research reveals that only 20% of parents site having a significant faith commitment and an identifiable set of religious beliefs as an ingredient required for parental success. My Child’s Heart Ministry seeks to minister to the parent as well as the child. So our program requires that parents and children together go through a 5 week course on what it means to be saved. A child’s salvation is at stake so we want to make sure they make a sound decision. We make sure parents are equipped to lead them to this decision and hold them accountable after the decision is made. Some may say that this is rather involved but statistics show that many accept a religion rather than Christ. This program ensures that parents and child know that accepting Christ is more than just saying some words but it is agreeing to walk in God’s ways and obey His commandments. It is making Jesus Lord over your life!

One Way Program
Five easy steps
Step I: The parent and child will attend a 30 minute meeting explaining the program.
Step II: Parents and children will be required to read together a chapter from Let’s Talk About Salvation each day for 5 weeks. It will take them about 15-20 minutes daily. By going through these chapters, they will clearly understand what it means to be saved. Reading together offers an opportunity to share experiences and feelings. A book is required for each family and costs $14. Group discounts are available!
Step III: Once a week, all the parents and children will meet. The purpose of this time is to review the concepts covered in the assigned reading, participate in fun activities that reinforce these concepts and for children to interact with others who are trying to walk in God’s ways. It is a fun time! These meetings can be facilitated by the program coordinator or a parent. All material will be provided.
Step IV: If a parent agrees that the child is ready to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. A meeting should be scheduled with the pastor or program coordinator. The purpose of this meeting is for church or school to confirm that the child is ready.
Step V: Celebration Time! This will be a one to two hour celebration time (depending on how many kids are involved). The church or school will schedule the date for this activity. All of the children along with their family and friends will participate in this celebration.
Celebration night includes:
- Kid’s worship songs
- Prayer for all children and families involved
- Signing of Commitment certificates
- Baptism
- Cake and drinks
