Tests are things that God allows to happen to us to test our faith. After your teacher teaches you certain things in math, she tests you to see how much you have learned. God tests us to see whether we are going to be obedient to Him. God gave Adam and Eve everything in the Garden of Eden to enjoy except the one tree of good and evil. They only had to trust God and respect His authority over them. God put that tree in the Garden of Eden to test Adam and Eve’s loyalty and obedience to Him. Adam and Eve failed the test because they ate the fruit. I want you to know that God did not cause Adam and Eve to sin. He put the tree there, but He did not encourage them to eat from it. He told them something bad would happen to them if they ate from the tree. God also tells us in the Bible that bad things will happen to us when we sin. Satan, on the other hand, told them something good would happen if they ate from the tree. Satan tempted them, and they gave in to the temptation.

God may give you an annoying boss, but He does not make you treat your boss unkindly. Only Satan will tell you to dislike this boss, disrespect him or her or to sabotage his or her work. When we are tested by God, He may allow someone to be unkind to us to see how we are going to respond. He wants to see if we are going to respond in kindness or listen to Satan. God will never tell us to do something that does not agree with the Bible.
